Pengaruh Ekstrak Etanol Bawang Merah (Allium cepa L) terhadap Kadar Kolestrol Total Tikus (Rattus norvegicus)

Abstract


The purpose of this study was to determine the optimal dosage of 70% ethanol extract of red onion bulbs that effectively lower total cholesterol rats given high fat diet. This study is an experimental laboratory. Thirty male Wistar rats with 170-250gr weight divided five groups, group I: control, group II: 30mg/200g bw dose of garlic extract, group III: 60mg/200g bw dose of garlic extract, group IV: 120mg/200g bb dose of garlic extract, and group V: positive control, were given doses of 0.72 mg/200g bw simvastatin suspension. All groups were given high fat diet alone for 7 days to increase total cholesterol. Measurement of serum total cholesterol by CHOD-PAP method performed before treatment on day 0, on the 8th day after administration of high-fat diet for 7 days, and on the 16th day after administration of high-fat diet and ethanol extract of red onion over 7 days from the 9th until the 15th day. The results were tested statistically by paired t test. Concluded that 70% ethanol extract of red onion (Allium cepa L.) with a dose of600 mg / kg or 120 mg/200 GBB equivalent statistically significant lower serum total cholesterol levels of rats (Rattus norvegicus) Wistar male.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dosis ekstrak etanol 70% umbi bawang merah yang efektif menurunkan kadar kolesterol total tikus diberi diet lemak tinggi. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimental laboratorium. Tigapuluh tikus Wistar jantan dengan 170- 250gr berat badan dibagi lima kelompok, kelompok I: kontrol, kelompok II: 30mg/200g bb dosis ekstrak bawang, kelompok III: 60mg/200g bb dosis ekstrak bawang, kelompok IV : 120mg/200g bb dosis ekstrak bawang, dan kelompok V: kontrol positif, diberi dosis 0,72 mg/200g bb suspensi simvastatin. Semua kelompok diberi diet lemak tinggi saja selama 7 hari untuk meningkatkan kadar kolesterol total. Pengukuran kadar kolesterol total serum dengan metode CHOD-PAP dilakukan sebelum perlakuan pada hari ke-0, pada hari ke-8 setelah pemberian diet lemak tinggi selama 7 hari, dan pada hari ke-16 setelah pemberian diet lemak tinggi dan ekstrak etanol bawang merah selama 7 hari dari hari ke-9 sampai hari ke-15. Hasil penelitian diuji statistik dengan uji t berpasangan. Disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol 70% bawang merah (Allium cepa L.) dengan dosis sebesar 600 mg/kg BB atau setara 120 mg/200 gBB secara statistik bermakna menurunkan kadar kolesterol total serum tikus (Rattus norvegicus) galur Wistar jantan.
