The Effect Of Celery (Aipum Graveolens L) Juice In Blood Pressure and Serum Cholesterol

Abstract


Celery juice has been developed as an herbal therapy cheaply to decrease blood pressure and cholesterol. The aim of this study is to know the effect of celery juice in blood pressure and serum cholesterol
The research is a cross sectional which are the students live in Sonosewu and it’s around as a subject of research. They are 19-25 years old. A choice of the subject of research is randomly. The subjects of research have health conditioned, don’t have liver, heart, gastrointestinal disease and neuron brain nervous. The research subjects are 14 peoples for blood pressure and 13 peoples for serum cholesterol. The research divided in to 2 phase, the first is a phase which before drink celery juice (control) and the second phase is after (sample). A research subjects have check their blood pressure before and 15-20 minutes after drink placebo or celery juice everyday. The research as long as 20 days, 10 days control (giving placebo) and 10 days sample (giving celery juice), The cholesterol measurements were taken lstday before given placebo, llrddays (after given placebo) and 2Tddays (after given celery juice), then check its total value by use cholesterol KIT reagents with using spectrophotometer methods. Analysis data is done by statistic T-test and also use SPSS 12 W version.
The results showed with T-Test statistic that placebo don ’t show exchange significantly on blood pressure and cholesterol (a > 0.05). The giving celery juice will cause decrease significantly on blood pressure and cholesterol (a <
0.    05). The results indicate that the giving celery juice will decrease blood pressure and cholesterol.

Jus seledri dikembangkan sebagai suatu terapi pengobatan yang murah untuk menurunkan tekanan darah dan kadar kolesterol darah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh jus seledri terhadap tekanan darah dan kolesterol serum.
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian cross sectional, dengan subyek penelitian mahasiswa di daerah sonosewu dan sekitarnya, dengan umur 19-25 tahun. Pemilihan subyek penelitian secara acak, dengan kondisi sehat tidak memiliki gangguan fungsi hati, jantung, ginjal, gangguan gastrointestinal dan penyempitan pembuluh darah otak. Jumlah subyek penelitian yang digunakan adalah 14 orang untuk tekanan darah dan 13 orang untuk kadar kolesterol darah. Subyek penelitian dibagi dalam 2 tahap: tahap pertama; sebelum diberikan jus seledri (kontrol) dan tahap kedua; setelah diberikan jus seledri (perlakuan). Masing-masing subyek penelitian diukur tekanan darahya sebelum dan 15-20 menit setelah diberikan plasebo atau jus seledri sehari sekali. Hal ini dilakukan selama 20 hari, yaitu 10 hari kontrol (pemberian plasebo) dan 10 hari sampel (pemberian jus seledri). Pada pengukuran kadar kolesterol, subyek diambil darahnya 1 hari sebelum diberikan plasebo, hari ke-11 (setelah diberikan plasebo) dan hari ke-21 (setelah diberikan jus seledri), kemudian diperiksa kadarnya menggunakan reagen KIT kolesterol dengan metode spektrofotometer. Data dianalisis dengan uji statistik T-Test berpasangan menggunakan SPSS versi 12 W.
Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa pemberian plasebo tidak memberikan perubahan yang bermakna terhadap tekanan darah dan kolesterol (a > 0,05). Sedangkan pemberian jus seledri menyebabkan penurunan yang bermakna terhadap tekanan darah dan kolesterol (a < 0,05). Hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa pemberian jus seledri dapat menurunkan tekanan darah dan kolesterol.
