Author Guidelines

The manuscript title is in Bahasa Indonesia / English: Times New Roman 12 pt, bold, single space.

Abstract

Each paper should begin with an abstract between 200-250 words in length and be followed by keywords. The abstract must be written in English. It begins with the word Abstract (Book Antiqua 9 pt), while the description should use Times New Roman 10 pt, single-spaced, and is written in 1 (one) paragraph. The abstract contents include background, objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.

Keywords: contain 3-6 keywords.

Introduction

In writing the manuscript, this template must be referred to by the author.

The full manuscript in MS-Word format can be submitted through the Quantum Teknika website with the following address: http://journal.umy.ac.id/index.php/qt

Writing Format

Papers are written on standard A4 paper (21 cm x 29.7 cm). The writing is arranged in 2 columns as in this template with a mirror margin of 2.5 cm on the top, 2 cm on the bottom, 3 cm on the left (inside) and 2 cm on the right (outside) for portrait layouts). For a table or figure with a landscape layout, the top margin is 3 cm, the bottom is 2 cm, the left (inside) is 2 cm, and the right (outside) is 2.5 cm. The paper's contents are written in Times New Roman 11 pt with single space, arranged left and right (justified), while each paragraph is spaced 6 pt. The number of pages should not exceed 15 pages. In the provided template, mirror margins have been set for even and odd page numbers. Hence authors do not need to change the pre-existing format.

Manuscript Title and Authors’ Name

The title of the paper (in Bahasa Indonesia/English) is centered and uses Times New Roman 12 pt bold. The title contains a maximum of 14 words in Bahasa Indonesia or 10 words in English.

All authors' names are written without title in Book Antiqua 11 pt, centered, and separated by commas. The author's address is placed at the end of the paper, including institution and e-mail address, in Times New Roman 11 pt. The first author or co-authors designated as the corresponding author should provide an e-mail address. Several authors with the same institutional address only need to write it once.

Manuscript Content

The manuscript should be written in Bahasa Indonesia or English. Either British or US style can be applied, but the author may not mix both styles. Papers written in English must follow all linguistic rules. Also, the manuscript consists of Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgments, and Bibliography.

The content is written in Times New Roman font 11 pt, justified, single space. Authors are allowed to use other types of letters for special purposes, for example, in a computer program. On one page, the top and bottom are evenly distributed so that the author can adjust the remaining space.

Title of Section / Subchapter

The title of the section is written in Book Antiqua Capital 11 pt, centered and numbered.

1.  Title of subsection

The title of the subsection is written in Times New Roman 11 pt and Italic, is capitalized only at the beginning of the sentence, and aligned left. The title of the subsection is written with the numbers 1, 2, and so on.

2. Page numbers, headers and footers

Do not add page numbers, headers, and footers. This section will be covered by the editor.

Figures and Tables

Figures and tables are centered. The title of the image is placed on the middle bottom of the picture, while the title of the table is placed on the middle top of the table, and both are written in Book Antiqua 9 pt. The words in table are written in Times New Roman 10 pt, single spaced. The captions on the pictures should be big and clear.

Color images must be changed to black/white or gray because the hardcopy edition of this journal does not print color pages. Images must also have a good resolution for good quality printing. If needed, the author can include the image in a separate file to ease adjustments/edits.

Figures and tables should be referred to in the paper and placed as close as possible to the description that was referred to. Figures and tables are numbered from number 1 onwards. An example of a figure can be seen in Figure 1, while the table can be seen in Table 1.

A large picture or table (which is unfit in a 2 column format), then the figure or table is placed on the top or bottom side of a page, adjusted with its description.

Tables and figures should be original, not merely a reproduction from unclear sources. If the author uses tables and figures from other sources, it is recommended that the author has obtained a copyright agreement to be included in the paper. The author must ensure not to infringe the copyright of other authors from the published journal or book.

Equation

Equations are written using the Equation Editor or similar. Each variable in the equation is described the first time it appears. All equations are left-aligned, while the serial number of the equation is right-aligned.

Example:

                                                                    (1)

gb = wet soil volume weight (kN/m3), W = wet soil weight (kN) and V = soil volume (m3). Each unit in the equation must refer to SI.

For equations that require more than one line, the equation can be arranged in two or more lines. If the equation involves using a large matrix form, then the equation can be written in one column similar to the Figure or Table format.

Conclusions

Each paper ends with a conclusion that summarizes the results of the research.

Acknowledgment

The author can deliver appreciation to those who contribute to the manuscript or research.

Bibliography

The bibliography style of this journal follows the APA Reference Style Guide. Sentences in the paper that refer to the bibliography are marked with the last name of the main author and the year. For literature with more than two authors, the phrase et al. is used after the first author's last name, for example: According to Basha et al. (2004),...

If there are only two authors, then the two authors' last names are written together, for example: A study conducted by Rosyidi and Taha (2007) shows ... or ... seismic data has been analyzed through the SASW method (Rosyidi & Taha, 2007).

The bibliography is put at the end of the paper and is sorted alphabetically based on the last name of the main author. The font is Times New Roman 11 pt, with a hanging format of 10 mm, as in the example below. Reference must be materials that are published or which information is easily accessible to the public. The order of writing a bibliography in the form of a book is as follows:

  1. All authors' names
  2. Year of publication in brackets
  3. Title (printed in italics) and edition/number (if any)
  4. Place of publication
  5. Name of publisher

The order of writing a bibliography in the form of a journal or seminar/conference proceedings is as follows:

  1. All authors' names
  2. Year of publication in brackets
  3. Paper title
  4. Name of journal/proceedings (in italics)
  5. Place held (for proceedings)
  6. Volume and number of journals/proceedings
  7. Page number
