Yordan Gunawan is an accomplished Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, with a passion for Public International Law, International Disputes Settlement, Law of International Organization, International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, and International Environmental Law.
He received his Bachelor's degree from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta and continued his education at the National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) in Taiwan, where he excelled in his studies. He also earned a certificate in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law from the prestigious Graduate Institute of International Studies (IHEID) in Geneva, Switzerland.
Yordan's experience and knowledge have been further enhanced through internships at the Irish Centre for Human Rights, National University Ireland, Galway (NUIG). Yordan finished his PhD at the Department of International Law and International Relations, Faculty of Law, Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Spain.
In addition to his academic pursuits, Yordan has demonstrated strong leadership skills, serving as Chairman of the Association of International Offices of Muhammadiyah Higher Education Institution (ASKUI PTMA), where he leads more than 90 international offices in Indonesia. He has previously served two terms as Director of the International Relations Office at his university, where he built a reputation for excellence in leadership.
Yordan's leadership and expertise extend beyond the academic community. He is also the Chairman of Muhammadiyah Special Branch in Spain for 2023-2025, a role that demonstrates his commitment to the betterment of his community. Furthermore, he was appointed as a Committee of General Election 2023-2024 in Madrid, Spain, by the General Election Commission, Republic of Indonesia.
