Author Guidelines

Writing Instructions

  1. Manuscript must be either in the form of research or a review of literature in the field of pharmaceutical science which has not been previously published in other journals and/or printed media.
  2. Manuscripts must be written in English, and in a Word Doc with all margins of 2.5 cm, Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1,5 spacing, justify, and use an A4-sized paper.
  3. Manuscripts must be sent through the Open Journal System (OJS) at the website address journal.umy.ac.id/index.php/jfap. The submission through the system other than the OJS would be unacceptable.
  4. The manuscript must follow the following systematic guidelines:

 Article title

  • Concise, and describe the contents of the article.       
  • The title of the manuscript does not have to be the same as the title of the research proposal.
  • The title max 15 words completed with subtitles if necessary        

Authors’ Names and Institutions

  • Write the names of the authors / researchers without a title, and include the author's institution / affiliation (name of institution, address, country).   
  • Write the complete correspondence address with phone number and email.       

Abstract

  • Abstract must be in the manuscript submitted.       
  • The length of the abstract must be maximum of 300 words.       
  • The content of the abstract includes a background, a research objective, a research method, results and conclusions.       
  • Key words must be included in the abstract: a minimum of three words and a maximum of six words.       

Introduction

  • Introduction must be no more than three paragraphs, and the last paragraph must contain the purpose of the research.  
  • The content of the introduction includes a background, a rationale, a literature review, an underlying theory, and results expected from the study.       

Method

  • Elaborate materials and tools used (if stated).       
  • Contain detailed steps for conducting research. 
  • Explain the method of data collection and analysis (in a narrative form).       
Result and Discussion
  • Show the results with a clear description supported by table illustrations, pictures, diagrams and such that are easy to understand.
  • The discussion must express and explain the results by using references.       
  • The results of the discussion (analysis) has been compared to the findings of the similar preliminary studies. 
  • Implications of the findings.       

Conclusion

  • The conclusion is the answer to the hypothesis (or title).       
  • Avoid speculation in making a conclusion.       
  • The conclusion must be based on facts found in the study.       
  • The conclusion must contain something new in the field of the study.       
  • The conclusion must directly relate to the research problem that has been formulated.       
  • The sentences in the conclusion must not repeat the result previously explained.       

 Acknowledgment

  • The acknowledgement must be put before the bibliography.       
  • The acknowledgement must be addressed especially to the funders along with the research contract number.    

Conflict of Interest

  • Please write statements about a conflict of interest. This may occur when the author or the author’s affiliation has a financial or personal relationship that can influence the research conducted (bias) such as a double commitment, competition of interest, or competition of loyalty.
  • If there is no conflict of interest, the author must state that all authors declare that there is no potential of conflict of interest with the research, authorship, and/or an article publication.     

References    

  • The references must be relevant to the issue of the research.    
  • The references used must be the latest (the past 10 years).
  • The minimum number of references is 20.       
  • A total of 80% of the references used must be primary references.
  • The reference writing is recommended to use the Endnote, Mendeley, Zotero, or Reference Manager applications.    
  • Please note the rules of writing references below:
The systematic writing of reference must be written based on the Vancouver regulation, namely the numbering system based on the text.

Tables and figures must be made as simple as possible, orderly and clear. The title of the table must be put at the top of the table, while the title of the image must be put at the bottom of the image. A maximum number of tables and figures is 6 each.

Figures should be saved in a neutral data format such as JPEG, TIFF or EPS. PowerPoint and Word graphics are unsuitable for reproduction and please do not use any pixel-oriented programs. Scanned figures (in JPEG and TIFF formats) should have a resolution of 300 dpi (halftone) or 600 to 1200 dpi (line drawings) in relation to the reproduction size.

Any tables and figures included in the main text of the paper must be numbered separately in a sequence mentioned in the text.
