Uji Kadar Hambat Minimal Infusa Kayu Secang (Caesalpinea Sappan Linn) Terhadap Shigella Flexneri In vitro

Abstract


Caesalpinea sappan Linn is a medicine plant for tradisionil medicine. Its can used to cure diarrhea, dysentery, cough, malaria, and tetanus. Caesalpinea uppcm Linn infusion is made by boiling to cure using. By macro broth dilution method, the examination had been performed in vitro to identify minimal inhibitory concentration of Caesalpinea sappan Linn ants ion against Shigella flexneri. Caesalpinea sappan Linn infusion was made according to Farmakope Indonesia. The research had been held at Microbiol-ogy' Laboratory of Medical Faculty, Muhammadiyah University Yogyakarta. The result of the study were: (1) Caesalpinea sappan Linn infusion has bacteriostatic activity against Shigella flexneri with minimal inhibitory concentration about 1,18 gr%. (2) Caesalpinea sappan Linn infusion has bacteriside activity against Shigella flexneri with minimal bakteriside concentration about 12,5 gr%.

Kayu secang (Caesalpinea sappan Linn ) banyak digunakan sebagai obat- obatan tradisional sebagai obat diare, disentri, batuk, luka berdarah, obat sakit kepala, malaria, tetanus serta pengobatan setelah bersalin. Pemakaiannya dengan cara direbus, infusanya digunakan untuk keperluan pengobatan. Dengan menggunakan teknik pengenceran tabung, telah dilakukan uji kadar hambat minimal infusa kayu secang terhadap Shigella flexneri in vitro. Infusa kayu secang dibuat sesuai dengan yang termaktub dalam Farmakope Indonesia. Penelitian dilakukan di laboratorium Mikrobiologi, Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Infusa kayu secang (Caesalpinea sappan Linn) memiliki kemampuan menghambat pertumbuhan Shigella flexneri dengan kadar hambat minimal sebesar 1,18 gr%. (2) Infusa kayu secang (Caesalpinea sappan Linn) memiliki kemampuan membunuh Shigella flexneri dengan kadar bunuh minimal sebesar 12,5 gr%.
