Hubungan antara Status Ekonomi, Status Pendidikan dan Keharmonisan Keluarga dengan Kesadaran Adanya Demensia dalam Keluarga

Dementia in the elderly are often not realized because the onset is not clear and progressive history of their illness but slowly. Patients and families often assume that the decline in cognitive function that occurred in early dementia is a natural thing. Overall status of economic, education andfamily harmony allegedly had a role to knowledge of the incidence of dementia on family members. The study aims to determine the relationship between economic status, education andfamily harmony to the knowledge of the incidence of dementia on family members. This study used cross sectional method. Research subjects were 51 elderly people, one of whom were excluded because of severe hearing loss, making it hard communication time of the study. The method of guided interviews undertaken to obtain the status of education and economic status. APGAR Score is used to determine the level of family harmony and the MMSE (score minimental examination) are used to diagnose dementia. Chi squares analysis used to determine the relationship between variables. The results showed a significant correlation between educational status of the family with awareness of dementia in the family (p = 0.007). APGAR economic status andfamily values are not significantly related to awareness of dementia in the family, with a value of p in sequence are 0.427 and 0.231.
Demensia pada usia lanjut sering tidak disadari karena awitannya tidak j elas dan perjalanan penyakitnya progresif namun perlahan. Pasien dan keluarga sering menganggap bahwa penurunan fungsi kognitif yang terjadi pada awal demensia merupakan hal yang wajar. Status ekonomi, pendidikan dan keharmonisan keluarga diduga mempunyai peran terhadap pengetahuan adanya kejadian demensia pada anggota keluarganya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara status ekonomi, pendidikan dan keharmonisan keluarga terhadap pengetahuan adanya kejadian demensia terhadap anggota keluarga. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode cross sectional. Subyek penelitian sebanyak 51 orang lansia, satu diantaranya dieksklusi karena adanya gangguan pendengaran yang berat sehingga menyulitkan komunikasi saat dilakukan penelitian. Metode wawancara terpimpin dilakukan untuk mendapatkan data status pendidikan dan status ekonomi. Nilai APGAR digunakan untuk menentukan tingkat keharmonisan keluarga dan MMSE (minimentalscore examination) digunakan untuk menegakkan diagnosis demensia. Analisis chi squares digunakan untuk menentukan keeratan hubungan antar variabel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan bermakna antara status pendidikan keluarga dengan kesadaran adanya demensia dalam keluarga (p=0,007). Status ekonomi dan nilai APGAR keluarga tidak berhubungan yang bermakna kesadaran adanya demensia dalam keluarga, dengan nilai p secara berurutan adalah 0,427 dan 0,231.
