Pengaruh Sudut Inklinasi Plate-Settler terhadap Kecepatan Vertikal Proses Sedimentasi pada Pengolahan Limbah Cair Kertas

Pengolahan limbah cair industri kertas memberikan produk kontaminan yang berbahaya ketika dibuang ke lingkungan tanpa pengolahan. Beban kontaminan yang tinggi memberikan efek terhadap beratnya beban pengolahan limbah secara biologis. Kecepatan pengendapan merupakan salah satu komponen terpenting di dalam meningkatkan kinerja unit sedimentasi, antara lain melalui penggunaan plate-settler. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh penambahan plate-settler dalam berbagai variasi inklinasi. Metode penelitian ini dilakukan melalui pengamatan terhadap kecepatan jatuh partikel, dan estimasi kecepatan jatuh yang dipengaruhi oleh sudut inklinasi platesettler pada unit sedimentasi. Karakteristik limbah cair industri kertas menunjukkan kecenderungan membentuk flok dan memiliki kemampuan pengendapan yang tinggi yang ditunjukkan oleh penurunan lumpur sebesar 29,53 cm pada 2,5 menit pertama. Modifikasi mekanisme pengendapapan dapat menambahkan plate-settler untuk meningkatkan efisiensi reduksi partikel dengan sudut optimum sebesar 60o hingga 75o. Nilai ini menunjukkan sudut inklinasi plate-settler yang memengaruhi mekanisme penyisihan total padatan di dalam proses seimentasi, selain kecepatan vertikal partikel.References
