Author Guidelines

General Requirements

  1. The articles submitted to the editor have never been published and are not submitted simultaneously to other scientific journals for publication in the Indonesian language. 
  2. The author must ensure that all co-authors have read and agreed to the content of the article for publication. 
  3. Research reports with humans as research subjects must attach a letter of approval from the local Research Ethics Committee.

Terms by Article Type

  1. Research Articles: This article is the result of original research in the field of dentistry. The systematics of this article include a title; the name of the author and the address of the affiliation; abstract; keywords; introduction which contains a background, a brief literature review, a formulation of the research problem and research objectives; materials and methods that contain research design, place and time, population and samples, methods of data measurement and data analysis; results; discussion; conclusions and suggestions; acknowledgment; bibliography (only contains referenced sources). Tables, graphs, photos/images and descriptions of images/photos may be included. Results are separated by discussion.
  2. Literature review: This article is the result of the author's critical thinking and analysis of dental issues. The systematics of this article include a title; the name of the author and the address of the affiliation; abstract; keywords; an introduction that contains background and purpose or scope of the article; a discussion (can be divided into several sub-sections); conclusion; bibliography (only contains referenced sources).
  3. Case Report: This article is a unique clinical case that rarely occurs in the field. The systematics of this article include a title; author's name, the address of the affiliation; abstract; keywords; an introduction containing the background, an analysis of the literature review and a brief statement confirming that the case is unusual and significant; The case report, which is the focus of this article, containing an introduction to the patient, history of the disease, current condition, detailed description of the physical examination and the results of several related tests, initial diagnosis, treatment and follow-up plans. Tables, flowcharts, and photos of radiological examination results may be included; discussion containing the justification and outcome of the case report; conclusions and suggestions; and bibliography (only contains referenced sources).

Special Terms

  1. The title should be no more than 14 words, written in title case, in bold and 14 pts in size. It can be made as a sub-title if the title is too long. Manuscripts presented in scientific conferences or theses that have never been published and circulated nationally must be made a statement in the form of footnotes.
  2. The author's name is written without a title. If more, please include with et al. The name of the author must be accompanied by the name of the author’s affiliation. Correspondence authors must include e-mail addresses to facilitate communication.
  3. An abstract is written in one paragraph and a maximum of 250 words. It must contain a summary of the background, objectives, materials and methods, and conclusions. The abstract must be made concisely and clearly. 

    Background: one or two sentences that explain the background of the research problem in general. Objective: the purpose of the research. Materials and Methods: the explanation of the research design, setting (do not mention the actual location but use a geographic type or number if necessary); Respondent (explain about how the study population and sample are selected, inclusion and exclusion criteria, the number of the sample included and excluded from the study, clinical characteristics and relevant demography); Materials (describe the instrument of all tools and materials used in the research). Results: Report main results/findings, including statistical relevance level and interval trust (if relevant). Conclusion: it should relate to the research objectives and hypotheses. Write suggestions or recommendations for further research.

  4. Keywords are written along with the abstract, 3 - 5 words, and are not a repetition of word title. Each keyword is separated by a semicolon and written alphabetically.

  5. The library's sources must be references published in the last 5-10 years and preferably from primary sources, such as research articles in scientific journals/magazines. References are written according to the rules of the Vancouver Superscript, which is a numbering system on the manuscript.

  6. Tables and figures are made as simple as possible, nice and clear. The table title is placed above the table, while the figure title is placed below the figure. Photos to be loaded must be of high quality (300 dpi). On the back of the photo/image, it is written (in pencil) of the author's name, the title of the manuscript, the number and orientation of the image. If the image contains a person who may be recognized or an illustration that has been published, it must be accompanied by written permission. The maximum number of tables and figures is 6 each. The size of the title and contents of tables and images is 10 pt. The table used must be an open model (without vertical lines).

  7. Acknowledgments are given to helping professionals, such as technical support or funding. The names written must be accompanied by a title and work address.

  8. The number of references is at least 20 references. The bibliography format must use "Reference Manager" (Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote etc.) with "Vancover Superscript", as in the following example: Ardianysah MS, Sri Pudyani P, Suparwitri S. Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
  7. The similarity index (Turnitin) of the manuscript has been checked and the results are less than 20%
