Perawatan Interseptif Dental Pasien Anak Penderita Cleft–Palate Interceptive Dental Treatment on Children With Cleft- Palate

Anak-anak yang mengalami kelainan cleft-palate biasanya menderita kelainan dento-skeletal. Sejak kecil merekaharus berjuang untuk melalui operasi koreksi palatum(palatoplasty) untuk bertahan hidup agar asupan makanan
dapat tercukupi. Kelainan dental mulai timbul ketika gigi-geligi mulai erupsi seperti karies, kelainan bentuk ,
kelainan jumlah dan masalah diskrepansi antara maksila dan mandibula sehingga hubungan gigi-geligi rahang
atas dan rahang bawah menjadi tidak harmonis mengarah pada kelainan maloklusi kelas III, yang juga
menimbulkan masalah estetik. Tujuan penulisan naskah ini adalah melakukan kajian lebih mendalam perawatan
dental dan skeletal anak-anak dengan cleft- palatesehingga kasus-kasus seperti ini dapat dirawat dengan optimal
tanpa membutuhkan waktu perawatan yang lama dan hasil yang memuaskan.Penelusuran pustaka menghasilkan
keterangan bahwa perawatan dental pada anak-anak sebaiknya dilakukan sedini mungkin untuk mencegah
keparahan kelainan dental dan munculnya kelainan periodontal serta mencegah berlanjutnya maloklusi yang
telah terjadi.Perawatan dento-skeletal pada anak-anak dapat dilakukkan seawal mungkin untuk mendapatkan
hasil dan waktu perawatan yang optimal.
