Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the International Journal of Islamic Educational Psychology (IJIEP) undergo a rigorous selection and review process to ensure their alignment with the journal's scope, academic quality, and adequate novelty to suit the IJIEP readership. IJIEP employs a double-blind peer review, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential. Anonymity of both authors and reviewers aims to prevent review bias, for instance, based on the authors' country of origin or previous controversial work. Manuscripts authored by prestigious or well-known authors are assessed based on the content of their manuscripts, not their reputation. This statement is based on the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Code of Conduct and Best Practice Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers.

All manuscripts submitted will be screened by the Editor-in-Chief to check for compliance with IJIEP's scope and basic submission requirements. If the manuscript passes the initial screening stage, it will be assigned to an editor who will send it to at least two experts in the relevant field for double-blind peer review (the identities of reviewers and authors remain anonymous). The review process may take 2-3 months. Reviewers will then submit their reports on the manuscript along with their recommendation of one of the following actions to the Editor:

  • Accept Submission;
  • Revisions Required;
  • Resubmit for Review;
  • Resubmit Elsewhere;
  • Decline Submission.

Manuscripts that do not pass the initial screening will be rejected without further review. While articles accepted with minor or major revisions should be revised by the submitting author in accordance with the comments and suggestions of the reviewers. The submitting author has up to three weeks to revise and format the manuscript, after which it will be reviewed by the handling editor. The handling editor will assess whether the changes are adequate and appropriate and whether the author(s) have sufficiently addressed the reviewers' comments and suggestions. If the revisions are deemed inadequate, this cycle will be repeated (the manuscript will be returned to the submitting author once more for further revision).

A decision on a peer-reviewed manuscript will only be made upon the receipt of at least two review reports. In cases where review reports significantly differ, the handling editor may invite an additional reviewer to provide a third opinion before making a decision. At this stage, the manuscript can either be rejected, requested for revisions (minor or major), accepted as is, or (if significant changes to the language or content are required) recommended for resubmission for a second review process. If accepted, the manuscript will be returned to the submitting author for formatting. The final decision to accept the manuscript will be made by the Editor-in-Chief based on the handling editor's recommendation and approval by the editorial board. It normally takes about 7 months to 1 year from submission to publication, with an average of 6 months.

At this stage, the revised manuscript will either be accepted or rejected. This decision depends on whether the handling editor finds the manuscript has been improved to a level worthy of publication. If the author(s) are unable to make the required changes or have done so to a degree below IJIEP standards, the manuscript will be rejected.

All submissions accepted at the International Journal of Islamic Educational Psychology must be VALID:

Valid research question and hypothesis, with a relevant theory to which the research question is being posed
Applies correct and transparent methodology, and the study design and materials are clearly laid out
Language and presentation are clear and adequate, figures and tables are in line with scientific norms and standards
In line with IJIEP author guidelines on editorial and ethical policies
Determined by grounding in existing literature through sufficient referencing and appropriate coverage of the relevant literature.

Plagiarism Notice

The International Journal of Islamic Educational Psychology (IJIEP) wants to ensure that all authors are careful and comply with international standards for academic integrity, particularly on the issue of plagiarism.

Plagiarism occurs when an author takes ideas, information, or words from another source without giving proper credit to the source. Even when it occurs unintentionally, plagiarism is still a serious academic violation and unacceptable in international academic publications.

When the author learns specific information (a name, date, place, statistical number, or other detailed information) from a specific source, a citation is required. (This is only forgiven in cases of general knowledge, where the data is readily available in more than five sources or is common knowledge, e.g., the fact that Indonesia is the most populous Muslim country in the world.)

When the author takes an idea from another author, a citation is required—even if the author then develops the idea further. This might give you an idea of how to interpret the data, either by deciding what methodology to use or what conclusion to draw. It might be an idea about broad developments in a field or general information. Regardless of the idea, the authors should cite their sources. In cases where the author develops the idea further, it is still necessary to cite the original source of the idea, and then in a subsequent sentence, the author can explain her or his more developed idea.

When the author takes words from another author, citation and quotation marks are required. Whenever four or more consecutive words are identical to a source that the author has read, the author must use quotation marks to denote the use of another author’s original words; just a citation is no longer enough.

IJIEP takes academic integrity very seriously, and the editors reserve the right to withdraw acceptance of a paper found to violate any of the standards set out above.

Every manuscript that is submitted to IJIEP will be scanned using Turnitin (similarity check).

The articles are the results of the writer's paper and do not indicate plagiarism, as evidenced by the results of the plagiarism check application by the editorial team. Plagiarism tolerance should be under 20 percent.
